Power

Definition

Power is the capacity to create movement, influence outcomes, and turn potential into action. In physics, power is the rate at which energy produces change. In human terms, it is the ability to act, decide, and impact reality. It translates into influence, contact network, know-how, assets, resource availability, and more.

In a business context, power appears as agency, leadership, execution, and the ability to move ideas forward. It is not defined by position or authority, but by the ability to generate direction and momentum.

Power is potential in motion.

Significance

Most people intuitively understand power in physical terms. In sports, it is force, speed, acceleration, impact. You can see it and feel it. Something moves because energy is applied. The same principle applies psychologically. Nothing moves without power. At times, it’s the magnetic power of a great charisma or the bonding power of deep connections.

The problem is that power has a bad reputation. Many people associate it with dominance, ego, or abuse. As a result, they distance themselves from their own power because they do not want to become “like that.” But avoiding power does not create safety. It creates stagnation. Without power, there is no leadership, no change, and no forward motion.

Healthy power is different. It is grounded, aligned, and constructive. It comes from clarity, values, and internal stability. It does not need to control others; it attracts them through authenticity. It moves things forward. This is where empowerment comes in. Power cannot be given from the outside. It grows as people reconnect with what matters to them and start acting on it.

This is particularly relevant for people who have been conditioned to step back instead of step forward. Many, especially women, have learned to associate power with something external, aggressive, or “not theirs.” Reclaiming power in this context is not about becoming dominant, aggressive, or being someone else. It is about returning to one’s own center and acting from it. Unshakably.
